When Priority Pass handed out its 2026 Excellence Awards, the single biggest prize - Global Lounge of the Year, out of a network of more than 1,900 lounges in over 140 countries - went to a lounge in Portland, Oregon. Escape Lounge PDX beat out lounges in Vienna, Singapore, and Dubai to take the top spot, and it did it with a design philosophy that's almost the opposite of the marble-and-champagne look most people picture when they think "airport lounge."
Escape Lounge sits on Concourse D between Gates D8 and D10, past security on the departures level, and it leans hard into its Pacific Northwest setting - local art on the walls, regionally sourced ingredients on the menu, and materials that feel more like a well-designed coffee shop than a corporate waiting room. It's rated 4.8 out of 5 on Priority Pass from over 3,000 reviews, and a perfect 5.0 on TripAdvisor.
What's actually inside
The lounge covers roughly 10,000 square feet across 249 seats, which is generous for a mid-size US airport. The food program is chef-curated rather than pre-packaged: expect a rotating menu of hot and cold dishes through the day, backed by a fully stocked bar pouring wine, beer, and spirits at no extra charge for pass holders.
For anyone who needs to get work done between flights, there are two enclosed office pods with real doors, ultra-fast private Wi-Fi, and printing, scanning, and copying on site. Two shower rooms are available for longer layovers or red-eye arrivals. Portland's design sensibility shows up in the details too - a 7,000-title digital library for browsing on your phone or tablet, and windows facing the runway and, on a clear day, Mount Hood.
Good for families, not just business travelers
A lot of premium lounges quietly discourage kids. Escape Lounge PDX does the opposite - it has a dedicated kids' area, and children under two get in free. If you're flying as a family and want somewhere calmer than the gate to wait out a delay, this is one of the more welcoming lounges in the network for it.

Is it worth visiting?
For the price of a single airport meal, you get a quiet seat, a real plate of food, a drink, and (if you need it) a shower and a place to take a call - at a lounge the entire Priority Pass network just voted its best. If you're flying out of PDX and have more than 45 minutes to spare, it's hard to think of a better way to spend a layover.
